According to Emily Hertel's Booklet: "Robert and Dinah Hardy in Australia" - 1981
Joseph Hardy ws born in Sydney in 1842. He was with his parents on the Victorian goldfields, and at Lamplough when his father died.
Research on Joseph is continuing and the following infomration has NOT been proved, but is possibly correct.
Joseph Hardy m Anora Webster (nee Dean) at Cox's Creek, Moree, about 1874.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE LIFE OF JAMES MEASOM1
Born: June 6, 1806
Died: January 4, 1880
James Measom was born June 6, 1806 at Burton Overy, Leicestershire, England. He was Christened June 29, 1806. His parents were William and Sarah Simpson Measom. He was the 6th of 10 children; 9 boys and 1 girl.
James married Phoebe Atkinson who was born May 14, 1806 at Kibworth, Leicestershire, England. They were married February 27, 1827 at Kibworth. They lived at Burton Overy and they had 10 children, three dying in infancy (the Atkinson line has produced some rather noted writers and lawyers in Leicestershire, England).
Phoebe died December 22, 1854 at Burton Overy. James died January 4, 1880 at the home of his youngest daughter Emma Coleman at Great Glen, Leicestershire, England.
James was a farm worker. The village of Burton Overy was agricultural except for some small tradesmen. The parson and the squire had the powers and if a farmer offended he had to leave the village.
James and his brothers were noted for draining some land to reclaim it. He and his son Thomas each bought a mud and thatch cottage from the Earl of Stamford for 5 pounds each. This entitled them to vote, as only property owners could vote. Very few people owned their own property at this time.
