Eleanor of England, Countess of Bar
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eleanor_of_England,_Countess_of_Bar

For a long period Eleanor was betrothed to King Alfonso III of Aragon.[4] Alfonso's parents were under papal interdict, however, because of their claims to the throne of Sicily, which were contrary to the papal donation of the Sicilian throne to Charles I of Naples, and despite the Aragonese ruler's repeated pleas that Edward I send his daughter to them for marriage, Edward refused to send her as long as the interdict remained in place. In 1282 he declined one such request by saying that his wife and mother felt the girl, who had just turned 13, was too young to be married, and that they wanted to wait another two years before sending her to Aragon. Alfonso died before the marriage could take place.

Wikipedia Entry
Geoffrey II, Count of Anjou [2017-04-26]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoffrey_II,_Count_of_Anjou

Family
An unusual entry in the cartulary of Ronceray describes a dispute over a vineyard seized by Geoffrey Martel and granted to his "wives, or rather concubines, Agnes, Grécie, Adele, and Adelaide. Whether these women were his wives or concubines, each relationship can be described.

Geoffrey II's first wife was Agnes of Burgundy, the widow of William V, Duke of Aquitaine; she and Geoffrey married in 1032, but had divorced by 1050.

His second wife was Grécie of Langeais.

Geoffrey II dismissed her to marry Adèle, the daughter of a "Count Odo", perhaps Odo II, Count of Blois.

He also divorced Adèle, and took Grécie back as his wife.

His last wife was a German woman named Adelaide.

Despite these marital escapades, Geoffrey died childless. He became a monk in Saint-Nicolas d'Angers in 1060.

RESIDENCE NOTE

---------------------------------
In an email dated 2009-DEC-10, Lesley Horton relates a story from her mother (Thelma), and grandmother (Lillian Elizabeth Comber) that Edward Comber b1820 (husband of Elizabeth Mackay) must have either lived with the family, or lived nearby, because he would sit on the front porch, dressed in a "military uniform", with very bright shiny buttons down both sides of a jacket.

Lesley's grandmother said he looked like a soldier. She also said that she and her siblings were frightened of him because he would always try and hit them with a big walking stick he had with him.

He would also make the children clean his boots and polish his buttons.

It is believed by Lillian Elizabeth that Edward was a recipient of a Victoria Cross, presented to him by Queen Victoria herself. [The only occasion where Queen Victoria presented was at the first ceremony held 26 June 1857.]

When Thelma was a little girl, she was shown the Victoria Cross in its case for only a few seconds, by Anna Maria Chilver Comber, wife of George Westby Comber.

It was an event mentioned in George Westby's obituary in Coonabarabran in 1945 - that his father has won the VC.

However, Lesley herself believes the medal was a fake, especially as there are no "Combers" or "Coombers" in the recipient list and the VC was instigated in 1856, and Edward Comber was in Australia by 1851 (before the creation of the medal).

Thelma also said that her grandfather (Edward) used to call himself an "Orangeman" and he pronounced some works with an Irish 'twang'. Lesley believes he picked this accent up from his parents, because he was born in Australia.

----------------------------------------------------------------
In a later email, dated 2009-DEC-11, Lillian was reported to have stated that Edward Comber LIVED with George Westby & Anna Maria, thus living in the same house as Lillian. Also, it is thought that Jack Comber, son of George Westby & Anna Maria, received the medal after Anna Maria died.

----------------------------------------------------------------Lillian had the impression that Edward Comber was a retired Army man and she called him a nasty tempered old "so & so", and the young children were very frightened of him.
