Anecdotal information from Jessie Maud (Miller) Melville (who also provided the photo of Harry in uniform) - 2005
Colonel Lasseter and the 2nd New South Wales Mounted Rifles formed part of Colonel Williams' columns, and from May 1 1901 to April 1902, the column trekked 4000 miles, travelling right across from Bechuanaland on the east, to Swaziland on the west. The troops were continually engaged in heavy night marches and earned high praise for their work.
The above were under the command of Major-General Featherstonhaugh under whose command Colonel Williams operated. In bidding farewell to Lasseter's corps, [he] referred to it as "a gallant dashing regiment, on which had done magnificent work, and with had acquitted itself at all times admirably".
2nd Regiment of New South Wales Mounted Rifles were under Colonel Lasseter, Squadron D, 3 & 4 Troop, Trooper H. F. Miller - picture in article in THE SYDNEY MAIL, 23 February, 1901.
While in the Narrabri, New South Wales, district, raised horses for the Boer War and other military uses.

"NAA Series B5204, Nominal Rolls and Lists of Medals and Clasps for NSW Military Forces who Served in the Boer War", National Archives of Australia, Victorian Office (formerly Australian Archives). The unit nominal rolls typically show number, rank, name, occupation, religion, birth date & place, marriage status and family details or name and address of next of kin plus signature. Unit medal rolls show number, rank, name and clasp entitlements (for the Queen's South Africa and King's South Africa medal) and sometimes also comments which can include service in other units. References in the Oz-Boer database to information in B5204 are identified by the prefix B5204:.

The "Official Records of the Australian Military Contingents to the War in South Africa", compiled and edited for the Department of Defence by Lt.-Col. P. L. Murray RAA (Ret.), Government Printer Melbourne, 1911.
This out of print hardback book of 607 pages includes Nominal Rolls of all the Australian State (ie pre-federation) and Commonwealth (ie-post federation) military units and contingents which went to the Boer War. As well as information on the formation and war service of each unit/contingent, the rolls in Murray provide the Regimental Number, Surname and (mostly) the Given-name(s) too - but sometimes just initials - plus Rank of those in each unit/contingent. In addition, there are also comments by Murray on many individuals. By itself however, Murray can be time consuming to use as it lacks a proper index and many of the rolls are not in alphabetic order.
References in the Oz-Boer database to information in Murray are identified by the prefix M: followed by a page number. Information in the Comments field that is sourced from Murray also has the prefix M:
